More plus sizes and
petite sizes
There’s no such thing as average so we’ve added more sizes. You’ll see more XS than ever and though we don’t offer a full line of petites, Donna Salyers who is under 5’2” and weighs less than 100 lbs, has created a list of all the things she wears from our catalog, without alterations. On the other end of the spectrum, we’re offering more 2X and 3X styles than ever and you’ll see them highlighted through the catalog.
Customizing sleeve and hem length
Our Signature Series jackets, strollers and full-length coats can be ordered with sleeve and hem customized to your measurements. While there’s no extra charge, custom orders are final with no exchange or return. We suggest that you order a coat in what you believe is the best size, return it and place an order with the proper sleeve and hem length. Custom orders generally take 2-3 weeks; orders placed in November and December are completed after Christmas.

Choosing the best faux fur for
you...
Color is important. Slip on YOUR color and often it’s abundantly clear in the way your skin and hair light up and harmonize with the fur tones. In our showroom, we’ve watched thousands of women try on coat after coat and discover the fabric closest to ones hair color is most flattering. Contrasts, however, such as White Mink with dark skin or black hair, can be dramatic and stunning.
Besides color, consider pile length and density. Black Mink, with narrow 2” pelts that create a vertical, flattering illusion, is perfect for both petite and full-figured women who prefer minimal bulk. Red Fox, Sable and White Mink are a bit longer but are also flattering, thanks to the vertical pelt lines.
The length question is easy. A coat as long as possible provides warmth AND a long visual image. A coat falling a few inches above the ankle generally looks good without sweeping the steps. In our showroom, shoppers often think of jackets “because I can’t wear a bulky coat.” They’re pleasantly surprised, however, to discover the longer illusion created by a full-length coat is more flattering than a jacket.
Choose what’s best for YOU. Sable works well with dark hair. Conversely, Sable is often perfect for blondes and here’s why. Sable has a lovely sheen that reflects light back to the face, explaining why, regardless of hair color, it’s our most wearable fabric. If you’re concerned with the bulk of a faux fur coat, Black Mink is for you. If black is too harsh for your pale winter complexion, a scarf at the neckline is often a solution.
Need something for your casual lifestyle? Red Fox and Coyote go casual AND dressy. If you’ve fallen in love with White Mink but feel it’s too impractical—reconsider! Makeup, for example, can be washed from a collar at the bathroom sink, using cold water and pump soap. Blot with a towel and allow an hour or two of air drying time.
Finally—what about style? The open neckline of a shawl collar has a lavish, luxurious feel. A standup collar, which can be worn open or closed thanks to boning hidden inside, is a warmer option and offers a longer vertical illusion. A portrait collar, worn up or down, also has a long vertical look. If your wardrobe leans towards pants and short skirts, a stroller is a great option.
What about petites?
Weighing less than 100 pounds and measuring barely 5’2”, I know the challenge of finding things that fit. Here are some suggestions for Fall/Winter 2007-2008, based on me, Donna, wearing them:

Donna can wear any of these full-length Signature coats in XS with no alternations. The standard 46” length of XS falls well above the ankle. Sizes S-3X have a standard length of 48” but as mentioned above, a special length can be ordered at no extra charge. The standup collar on 14002 and portrait collar on 14073 create a longer visual illusion than the 14000 shawl collar.
