- Tuesday, March 03, 2009 Sturdy but Bulky Reviewed By: Ofelia (Vallejo, CA) I purchased this garment bag for it's waterproof linings and appearance and trust me, it's definately waterproof, strong, sturdy and very attractive. And it's bulky, big and cumbersome. I'm 4'11" and the bag is almost as tall as me when fully opened; half my size when the bag is half folded. I use a garment bag to hang & carry my suits to the gym before going to work, plus I use a small carry-on size suitecase that holds toiletries, hair supplies & gym clothes and I take public transportation to/from work. The garment bag is great against rainy storms but it's not very pliable and doesn't fold very easily to pack in my gym bag. The garment handle should have been placed at the top where the hanger hangs out from for better carrying and so that your clothes are not being carried upside down. The roomy pockets are a plus but for someone of my size, it just adds on more weight and bulkiness. When completely empty, the bag will fold down to 14" which makes it a bit easier to manage. I'll only use this bag for rainy days and go back to my short, flimsy, polyester garment bag.
