Fab-Furs Forecast: Mob Wives

If you’ve been anywhere near Instagram and TikTok in recent weeks, you’ve undoubtedly seen or heard the phrase “Mob Wife Aesthetic.” The trend has fashion influencers everywhere ditching their more minimalistic styles for flashier looks. Taking cue from famous movies and television shows such as The Godfather, The Sopranos, and Scarface, the trend has nothing to do with the life-of-crime mobsters, but everything to do with the glamorous women with which they shared the screen. These women were the human embodiment of wealth and excess that became synonymous with the “mob-life”  – gold jewelry, striking hair or makeup, and furs (or faux furs in our case) – all with the bold personalities to match. A complete boomerang from trends of recent years, the Mob Wife Aesthetic takes “quiet luxury” to “look at me luxury.”
